Cupcakes for example are beginning to be the norm at most weddings. They are definitely a crowd pleaser and cost effective way to have dessert without breaking the budget on a full cake. If you are doing cupcakes make them stand out like a cake does throughout the event. Be inspired and original. Go for a modern look or put flags with your monogram or wedding date on them. Use fondant to create a symbol or shape to perch on top of the cupcake. Get funky.
