SH meets another SH

A little late to post this since NYC seems like it was months ago...
but this store has been on my mind.

Literally three doors down from Big Gay Ice Cream in the East Village is STILL HOUSE.

A perfectly curated homeware, jewelry and design store.
Now one of my favorite and must hit up spots in New York.
I picked up a Julie Rothman piece.  LOVE.

PS...BIG GAY ICE CREAM pop up truck in LA next week.  Salty Pimp.  Get it.
Look at website for all info.

NYC...Springtime

Had to stop by John Derian

I happened upon the new Madewell store

New food spots we tried:
MWells
The Dutch

Always have good food and lots of fun at Roberta's

I got to spend an afternoon with my mom and go see the Van Cleef Arpels Exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt.
Absolutely a MUST for a jewelry fan.

Loved NY in the Spring. To see Central Park in full bloom is one of the best sights in the WORLD.

Fall in NY

(photos from NY Magazine of ABC Kitchen)

What a perfect time to head to New York.
The joyous fall weather. The red and orange leaves still on the trees. ahhhhh wonderful.

Here's my current hit list:

ABC Kitchen
Perfect spot for lunch with my mom. The $25 set lunch option was great and a ton of food. Space is stunning and you can walk upstairs to the home store after.
Key is to go for lunch. Dinner is a hard ressie to come by...

Casa Mona
First time here!! I know crazy right? So much fun and really good food.

Andaz Hotel
Went to a fun Godiva event for Top Chef Just Desserts.
The hotel was nice. The private room where the party was hosted was big and very well designed. Could be a great rehearsal dinner spot or engagement party.

Eataly
walked into the insanity!! This place is a must for gawking at all the delicious jamon, cheese, coffee, you think it was all made it Italy? Think again. They push a lot of local products that are Italian inspired but made right here in the USA.

Once Upon A Time Antiques
I have always walked past this adorable store. It is tiny and you almost miss it walking down 11th street. Go there and try on the vintage jewels. Prices vary but for NYC not too bad.

Hope everyone has had a great start to November. I can't believe that Thanksgiving is rolling around the corner.

back...westside

Soooo I escaped from the hell of a heatwave in NY. Back to LA where instead of sun there are clouds...and what's that? Rain water on my back deck? Could it be??
Well it feels good to cool off.
My fourth of july was spent enjoying family, friends and my Dad's big birthday.
Before we hit the Island...the husband and I hit NYC with some good friends.
Drove out to Brooklyn to enjoy Roberta's.
Such a fabulous meal. A true gem in Bushwick. Nothing better than great friends, great local produce, pizza and beers.

the little victorian house in the woods

(all photos by Trevor Tondro for the NY TIMES)

Today in the NY TIMES I spotted this sweet article. Sandra Foster built her dream Victorian cottage. It is one room, no heat, air conditioning or bathroom. Just her space to go to in the woods. All DIY. She and her husband live across a stream in a trailer.

Salvage yard woods, a collection of her Limoges china, paint from Ralph Lauren and Benjamin Moore.

The article and accompanying photos are wonderful.

haus interior

While in NY and staying at my friends apartment on Elizabeth street I noticed a lovely design store, Haus Interior. Simple decor and beautiful accessories. Most everything is in the under $200 price range. Designer Nina Freudenberger has great taste. Checkout her design blog, The Cultivated Home.

Below you will see my top picks from their website. If you are in NY stop by the actual store....otherwise you can buy most items online.

Current favorite style shots

My friend Rachel in NYC is the coolest. No, literally...so might be the coolest person I know in fashion and the arts. Especially on the eastside. She was one half of the design label Larsen Gray.

Her fabulous blog lead me to these two photos above from the french site grance dore.

I mean...two of my favorite style shots for sure.

NY!

Sorry for the lapse in posting...early flight to NY this morning.
I will do a larger post this weekend or next week when I arrive back to the westside.
For right now I am enjoying the 100% humidity and ready to get my shop on tomorrow.
Photo above is my favorite NY iconic landmark. The Chrysler Building. I always take a deep breathe when I see it.

Definitely looking forward to:

Eating at Spoon

Browsing at John Derian, ABC Home and Johnathan Adler

Shopping for vintage all over the place...
Taking suggestions from everyone and anyone....

Always....thanks for checking in and reading my little space in the internet world.
