Posting and coasting

So I am here...like I am looking at other people's blogs and enjoying my iPad.
But, what I can't figure out is how to post pictures from this damn thing.
If anyone can help me please comment. It won't let me upload a photo.
Currently enjoying the east coast and will be back soon on the www with plenty of good food and fun from all my travels.

The Middle

Photo of The Greenhouse Tavern, Cleveland OH

Back from the middle. That's right I had a little Midwest break. My husband did a great event with Michael Symon and friends at his restaurant Lola in Cleveland for the Food For Life event benefiting Share Our Strengths .We enjoyed the generous hospitality from the people of that fine city.
Shout out to my girl and fellow "chef's wife", Amelia. Checkout her blog Chef's Widow. Super smart, super funny and you get the real scoop on what life is like married to a chef!

Then we were off to Clarklake in Michigan. My husband's mom lives there and let me tell you lake living is FUN! Went to the Beach Bar and floated on the lake Pontoon style. Missing Raft-O- Rama this weekend. Sad.

Below is a small lists of food spots and shops to hit up if you make it to Cleveland, Clark Lake or Ann Arbor Michigan.

I am back people. No more big trips until next month.
So keep checking in here daily...

the burlap sack guy

First time putting video on my blog...hope this works...
I watched this the other day...
Steve Airhart, former Oyster fisherman now entrepreneur, bought these burlap sacks from coffee suppliers and then sold them to seafood distributors specifically Oyster fisherman. Now, with the oil spill and Oyster fisherman loosing money everyday he is left with almost 13,000 burlap sacks and needs to sell them or close his business.

Can't the DIY community find something to do with those sacks??

Extra: the accompanying New York Times article...

Have a great weekend....and let me know if you have any ideas....

Need a Revolution

I watched Jamie Oliver's FOOD REVOLUTION and was truly blown away. Definitely not from the production value or how ABC (and the production company) positioned a frustrated with the system, crying, doing this all for the children Jamie in a playground while the faint noise of laughing children is in the background.....but by what I genuinely believe was real reality TV.

A few Google clicks and I found some wonderful organizations that are working hard to change and educate people on what we feed children in schools across this country. Please checkout the links below:

Great NY TIMES article from this past summer talking about how change is on the horizon..

Funded by a 3 year grant by the W.K. Kellog Foundation FOOD FOCUS (part of Liquori and Associates) is trying to, "get school meals right" Developed to help urban school districts transform the quality of food served in their schools.

The grandmother of all things sustainable, Alice Waters, has her Edible Schoolyard organization. She has a book that describes the process and pictures of kids enjoying the garden.

Jamie Oliver's own site has ton of information on the heroes of the movement, petitions and recipes.

There are more episodes coming up on ABC. I would suggest setting the Tivo or DVR.
