My girl on THE CHALKBOARD
Helen Johannesen is the reason I can stay sane. She is the Operations Manager of both Animal and Son of A Gun restaurants. So basically she keeps my husband in check.
THANK YOU THANK YOU HELEN!
Helen is one of the most gracious and stylish people I know. Total East Coaster with that fancy preppy flare. I love it. Need I mention her other half Zach Frechette who is the man behind the ever popular Quarterly Co.
The Chalkboard has a home tour with Helen on their site today.
Check out her wonderful new digs in Hollywood and what she fancies for a snack.

SH meets another SH
A little late to post this since NYC seems like it was months ago...
but this store has been on my mind.
Literally three doors down from Big Gay Ice Cream in the East Village is STILL HOUSE.
A perfectly curated homeware, jewelry and design store.
Now one of my favorite and must hit up spots in New York.
I picked up a Julie Rothman piece. LOVE.

PS...BIG GAY ICE CREAM pop up truck in LA next week. Salty Pimp. Get it.
Look at website for all info.

On the lookout...

mid-century modern site on etsy.com called,
Palm Springs or Bust.
Two of my favorites are above. Lobster plate? Amazing.
I wanted this planter but it is too small...would have been perfect.
The hunt continues....
Any ideas please comment below.

folding screens

I saw this post today on design dump about folding screens. It is funny because I was in Empiric (one of my favorite stores) today and saw one that I liked.
We don't need one in our house....but I do love the look of the one in the top photo. I think they are super useful in small spaces to divide rooms. Of course...always essential to hide unwanted parts of a room.
Have a great weekend....
Can't believe next week is the fourth of July!!

the little victorian house in the woods

Today in the NY TIMES I spotted this sweet article. Sandra Foster built her dream Victorian cottage. It is one room, no heat, air conditioning or bathroom. Just her space to go to in the woods. All DIY. She and her husband live across a stream in a trailer.
Salvage yard woods, a collection of her Limoges china, paint from Ralph Lauren and Benjamin Moore.
The article and accompanying photos are wonderful.

are you being Specific?

It's a fun little store on Beverly Blvd where the owner was the former manger of interior emporium at Blackman Cruz.
Their facebook page will keep you updated on events and merchandise.

pillows

Acapillow has vintage and original pillow coverings....
All different price ranges.
Also...if you have vintage fabric the owner will cut it to the size you want and give you the filler.
If I do say so myself....nice find.

cool store alert

My old friend(and when I mean "old" I mean we go way back) Jane (hip mom of 3) told me about LOST&FOUND the other day.
When I drove up to it and peered inside the windows I could not believe that I had never been in before....nutty. Awesome idea: take over a few store fronts and make a homeware store, kids store, men's and ladies. Genius.
Lining the floors in the woman's store were the full beautiful line of Repetto flats and kid store had great items from kit+lili
So if you are cruising sunset or near hollywood and vine....
Go find LOST+FOUND.
